| During the 90s, with the fall of Communism and now the new Russia
has transformed Moscow so much and now even Moscow has many top class
hotels and is further expanding. Also the transformation with regards
to the variety of cuisine available in Moscow would not have been
imagined ten years ago. From the Communist bread basket citadel to
the new Capitalist Frontierland, Moscow now enjoys a great variety
of dishes from around the world. From hip cool American diners to
Irish bars and also expensive dining can be had in some of the Japanese
restaurants.
All the different parts of the former Soviet Union would have
their own particular ethnic cuisine, for example one would come
across a restaurant specialising in Caucasian dishes or else Central
Asian cooking or even Georgian cuisine. The population of Moscow
comes from all corners of the Soviet Union and a large community
of the city come from Georgia. The Georgian cuisine is known for
its generous portions and its spicy taste and is very popular.
Dishes such as skewered meat and spicy meat soup or simply bread
with melted cheese. Georgian restaurants like the Kabanchik, Genatsvale,
or Mama Zoias, and for a more expensive Georgian restaurant, take
yourself to the Argo.
More local Russian restaurants representing the Ukraine is Shinok
and Vechera na Khutore, while the Uzbek restaurant called the Kishmish
is another find in Moscow. The Mongolian restaurants of Elki -Palki
or the Tamerlan are very popular with both locals and tourists.
