The Boulevard Ring is the area that is arching over the Kitai -Gorod
/ Red Square /Kremlin area and is connected to the north by the
Bulvarskoe Koltso which is a hugely varied and rolling area which
has many of the attractions and sights of Moscow in its locality.
Places like the Bolshoi Theatre, or the Pushkin Museum of Fine
Arts as well as the newly built church of Christ the Saviour which
is worth a look. There are many more sights in this area.
The Garden Ring was ruined during the times of Stalin, where all
the trees were cut down and a motorway replaced them. What was once
a really fashionable area where the likes of Tolstoy and Pushkin
use to live in apartments here and are now tourist attractions. The
location in and around Arbat and Novyi Arbat is now a rather tacky
spot and far from the once Soviet Bohemian trendy part of the city
that it use to be.
When travelling northwards, one will get a sense of the size of
this monster of a city which stretches out in all directions. The
residential districts are vast and some of the sights around would
be the WT’s exhibition complex, as well as the Botanical
Gardens which are very nearby and the Ostankino Television Tower
which has a great view from the top. Near enough to the centre
is the museums that are worth a look, which are the Dostoevskii
Museum and the Museum of Musical Culture.
