Moscow is quite a crazy party capital with lots of nightclubs and
bars and is outrageously trendy and fashionable than anything
in the west. There are many strip shows along with women of the
night in specific parts of the city. A lot of the nightclubs
and bars accept only the in-crowd and if you are not trendy enough,
the door staff will not let you in. Other places only accept
the beautiful people, so if you are not drop dead gorgeous, you
will find it almost impossible to get past the door staff. The
up- market clubs include the likes of The Titanik, the Garage,
and Angely which are only for the extremely wealthy and beautiful
looking people. So feel afraid.
For a more punk and grunge hangout, try the 16 Tonnes, Svalka, Crossroads
and the Butylka all have live music, while the Luch is in an underground
basement that plays Techno music covering two floors.
A more relaxed environment can be had in the Propaganda venue which
is a great dance club. The Tabula Rasa is also popular with the tourists
and hosts lots of live Russian bands.
For the more raunchy clubs, try the Hungry Duck, the Champion or
the Metelitsa which features just more than a dance floor.
For Jazz and blues, seek out Le Club or the Jazz Art Club and
the BB King has Cajun cuisine along with its blues and jazz. Club
Forte and Arbat Blues are also well recommended.
For the gay community, visit the Three Monkeys or Chance.
In this hedonistic nightlife world of Moscow, there is a party
going on around most corners and there is a venue to suit all tastes
and flavours.
The Irish bars are sprouting up around the city. There is the
Shamrock Bar, the Rosie O’Grady’s and the Sally O’Brien’s,
which have the lovely pints of Guinness and would also have Irish
snacks like the Tayto crisps and the Cadburys chocolate. The English
bar, John Bull pub has a great atmosphere as well as the Horse
and Hound.
